Description
Sometimes the best coffees come from unexpected connections. When I bought my first espresso machine, the seller mentioned his cousin worked in the coffee industry in Guatemala. One conversation led to another, and although his company supplied coffee to major brands like Delta Air Lines and Chick-fil-A, he introduced me to Collaborative Origins Imports. After nearly a year, that chance encounter led us to this exceptional coffee.
Grown by Antonio “Tony” Medina in the highlands of San Martín Jilotepeque, Guatemala, this washed coffee is a perfect example of why Guatemalan coffees are so highly regarded. Produced at elevations above 1,700 meters, it offers a rich, balanced cup with exceptional sweetness and a smooth, creamy body. Expect comforting notes of baked apple pie, honey walnuts, caramel sweetness and a lingering almond toffee finish. Its approachable flavor and full body make it equally enjoyable as a drip coffee or a rich, balanced espresso. Tony is a longtime specialty coffee producer and an integral member of the La Cooperativa San Martín Jilotepeque (COSAMAJ), generously sharing his wet mill with fellow farmers to help produce high-quality coffees throughout the region. His commitment to quality and community shines through in every cup.
